VMAs sets Twitter record and gives fans second screen experiences
What would this week’s Entertainment Roundup be without at least a bit of coverage of Sunday night’s MTV Video Music Awards? The VMAs achieved the title of most tweets of any awards show to date, with an estimated 10 million tweets @MTV and using the #VMA hash tag – 8,868 tweets per second! MTV also delivered a second screen app for computers, iPhones and iPads where users tracked every celebrity’s tweets from a handy seat map and gain first access to video content after performances. The Twitter Tracker also provided a “buzz” tab displaying the most-shared photos of the night – including of course, Beyonce proudly rubbing her belly!

Users can also view free clips, play games and share reviews on films via Facebook. Streaming giant Netflix is also developing Facebook integration. The real meat will be their success metrics!
Ticketmaster Turns Its Seat Maps Social
Hopefully this will put an end to the teenager screaming “Where are you?” into her cell phone at your next rock concert! Ticketmaster has introduced a social element to their interactive seat maps, so that customers can see where their Facebook friends are sitting at most events and tag themselves in their seats. Once a customer buys a ticket, they have the option of making their seating location public to Facebook friends. Friends can then search for that customer’s seat and buy the closest ticket possible.
